Production Research
National Chip Program
The National Chip Program (NCP) is a collaboration between growers, processors, researchers, and many others across the U.S. The chief goal of the NCP is to cut the chipping potato variety development timeline in half, delivering high-quality clones to market in under eight years
With a budget of nearly $1 million per year, the NCP collaborates with 12 breeding programs across the country to find top-performing varieties that will ultimately make their way to processors. Clones are screened rigorously for disease resistance, storability and flavor.
