National Fry Processors Trial
Much like NCP, the National Fry Processors Trial (NFPT) program expedites the development and distribution of varieties optimized for field production, frying and consumption.
The NFPT has addressed shortcomings in the industry by creating varieties with reduced susceptibility to acrylamide formation and cold-induced sweetening. The NFPT and the NCP share a streamlined and cost-effective stage-gate structure, designed around high-throughput screening, tiered trials, post-harvest lab, and storage analysis, and scale-up through a tight-knit network of seed farms.
