The 2024 Foodservice Volumetric Report (July 2023 – June 2024), conducted annually by Technomic, Inc., on behalf of Potatoes USA, measures the total volume and dollar sales of potatoes in the foodservice industry. Key findings include:
Although potatoes saw a -1.6% change in volume sold compared to the previous year (fresh weight equivalent), potatoes continued to be America’s favorite vegetable.
- The modest decline in volume was attributed to overall decreased traffic in restaurants and operators reviewing portion sizes.
The foodservice market value of potatoes was up 2.4% compared to the previous year.
The non-commercial sector (travel and leisure, colleges and universities, healthcare, etc.) saw a 1-million-pound (fresh weight equivalent) increase in 2024.
- The non-commercial sector represents 22% of total foodservice potato volume.
