Alliance for Potato Research and Education (APRE) recently convened several esteemed scientists for a roundtable dialogue to share findings from their APRE-supported studies and brainstorm ideas to address evidence gaps. The researchers identified several opportunities to conduct innovative research to help better understand the role of potatoes in supporting health across all life stages, including children and adolescents, women of childbearing age, and aging adults. They also discussed pathways to assess potato intake related to specific outcomes such as glucose control, weight management, and diabetes risk; overall diet quality; and mental and physical performance.
This important conference allowed APRE to engage directly with the scientific community and hear about how they can continue to support research that addresses key public health questions.
