Educating Mexican importers, distributors, and retailers about fresh U.S. potatoes

December 29, 2022

RTMs increase the understanding of and respect for U.S. potato products by connecting potential international buyers with the U.S. potato industry.
The RTM, held during the first week of October in Colorado, included the following:

  • A farm visit
  • Storage and packing facility tours
  • A seminar at the Potatoes USA office
  • A trade show with the U.S. potato industry
  • Retail store visits

Throughout the week, there was great engagement between the Mexican participants and the U.S. industry, including representatives from Colorado, Idaho, Washington, and Wisconsin. The trade show, a new tactic for an RTM, helped create time for more one-on-one dialogue. The Mexican participants were grateful for the opportunity to visit U.S. potato facilities and connect with the U.S. industry.

Potatoes USA is already planning the next educational RTM, including participants from 12 international markets and focusing on foodservice and retail channels. This RTM will be held in Washington state on April 17-21, 2023. Potato industry participation is strongly encouraged; if you are interested in joining, contact Tiffany Kocir, Ti*****@*********SA.com, and Kayla Vogel, Ka***@*********SA.com.
