Potatoes USA has released a new comprehensive series of regional sales reports—the first of their kind—designed to help retailers boost fresh potato sales through region-specific, actionable insights. The reports break down the factors driving fresh potato performance across eight distinct U.S. markets.
For example, the Great Lakes saw year-over-year volume growth, notably in yellow and petite, while California showed strong preference for 10-pound bags and a significant increase in petite sales. Conversely, the South Central experienced declines in both dollar sales and volume, signaling an opportunity to increase demand through merchandising and shopper engagement.
“This initiative is about helping retailers uncover opportunities in their own region,” said Nick Bartelme, Global Retail Development Manager for Potatoes USA. “Potato performance varies widely across the country. By breaking the data down regionally, we’re giving retailers a sharper lens on consumer demand in their markets, informing how they merchandise, promote, and prioritize potato products in-store. These reports support a more precise, growth-oriented strategy to tailor product assortments to meet local preferences or capitalize on rising trends.”
Growers who work directly with retailers can also use these reports to better understand the factors driving fresh potato sales with key accounts in their area. For retailers, the reports can support store-level decisions around assortment, promotion, and merchandising strategies.
