As part of the ongoing work to strengthen the demand for U.S. potatoes globally, Potatoes USA partnered with Tamimi Supermarkets, a prominent local retailer in Saudi Arabia, an important emerging market for the U.S. potato industry. To appeal to the primary target audience, they launched a back-to-school promotion and provided cooking ideas through bilingual recipe booklets.
The campaign was hugely successful, generating 60% growth in the volume of U.S. potatoes at Tamimi stores. The increased demand prompted Tamimi Supermarkets to expand the offering of U.S. potatoes from 25 to more than 50 of its stores, effectively doubling the accessibility of U.S. potatoes across its network. Noting the interest of its customers, Tamimi also introduced two additional varieties of U.S. fresh potatoes, providing even more options for Saudi Arabian consumers.
