National Fry Day was July 12, and restaurants and spud-lovers across America celebrated their favorite vegetable both online and IRL (in real life ). On Facebook and Instagram, the hashtags #NationalFryDay and #NationalFrenchFryDay were used in more than 82,000 posts, and garnered over 774,000 views on TikTok. The majority of TikTok users engaging with National Fry Day were ages 18-24—squarely within Gen Z, the youngest generation of potato enthusiasts.
National Fry Day was also featured in more than 80 traditional news stories, which covered everything from deals on fries at popular national restaurant chains to the third annual Downtown Macon French Fry Fight in Macon, Georgia.
