Potatoes See Steady Volume of Positive Coverage in 2024

Potatoes’ traditional media coverage volume held steady throughout 2024, and the sentiment was strongly positive. At the same time, the volume of social media posts mentioning potatoes was above average throughout the year and was even more positive, with users frequently sharing their appreciation for potatoes’ taste, versatility and nutritional value.

Traditional Media

  • The tone of traditional media coverage about potatoes was strongly positive from January-December 2024. Of the articles reviewed:
    • 68% were positive
    • 20% were neutral
    • 12% were negative
  • The positive-to-negative ratio for the year was 5.48:1, indicating more than 5 positive articles for every negative article.
  • Potatoes’ coverage volume in traditional media held steady throughout 2024, with near- or above-average volume each quarter. Health was the most prevalent theme each quarter except Q4, when holiday coverage resulted in Cooking-themed coverage overtaking Health.

Social Media
