Objective:

Summary of total potato sales from Marketing Year 2022 - Quarter 1 (July 1 through September 30, 2021).

Highlights:

  • Dollar and volume sales are above the same time period in 2019.
  • Refrigerated potatoes and deli­-prepared sides have increased in dollar and volume sales compared to 2020. However, they have not returned to pre-­pandemic levels.
  • All prices are up per pound from 2020 except for dehydrated potatoes.
  • Consumer prices for potatoes were 6.7% lower last September even though they are at a three-­month average low for September 2021.

Total Potato Sales: July – September 2023

Objective:

Potato retail dollar sales remained strong for the quarter from July-September 2023, up 9.5% from the same period a year ago. All categories of potatoes increased in dollar sales. Fresh volume sales remained stable compared to a year ago (-0.4%), led by increases in yellow (3.3%), red #2.8%), and fingerling potatoes (3.9%). Total potato volume sales slightly decreased (-1.7%) compared to a year ago.
