Summary of fresh potato sales from Marketing Year 2022 - Quarter 1 (July 1 through September 30, 2021).

Highlights:

  • Dollar and volume sales are above the same time period in 2019.
  • Yellow and petite potatoes were up in dollar and volume sales from 2020.
  • While most pack sizes are elevated in both dollars and volume from 2019, 1-4 pound and 8 pound bags are still up in dollars compared to 2020.
  • Consumers purchased more micro/steamer packages and tray packages of potatoes from July to September 2021 than they did in 2020.

Total Potato Sales: July – September 2023

Objective:

Potato retail dollar sales remained strong for the quarter from July-September 2023, up 9.5% from the same period a year ago. All categories of potatoes increased in dollar sales. Fresh volume sales remained stable compared to a year ago (-0.4%), led by increases in yellow (3.3%), red #2.8%), and fingerling potatoes (3.9%). Total potato volume sales slightly decreased (-1.7%) compared to a year ago.
