Objective:

Summary of fresh potato sales from Fiscal Year 2023 - Quarter 2 (Oct. 1- Dec. 31 2022).

Highlights:

  • Fresh potato dollar sales were up for all types except fingerling and purple.
  • The most significant decrease in volume sales for the last quarter of 2022 were purple, white, and red potatoes, down -34.4%, -10.0%, and -9.3%, respectively.
  • All pack sizes, except packages greater than 10 pounds, saw an increase in dollars.
  • Volume sales for all pack sizes of five pounds or less increased, with the most significant growth in five-pound bags (8.3%) and bags less than two pounds (3.8%).

Total Potato Sales: July – September 2023

Objective:

Potato retail dollar sales remained strong for the quarter from July-September 2023, up 9.5% from the same period a year ago. All categories of potatoes increased in dollar sales. Fresh volume sales remained stable compared to a year ago (-0.4%), led by increases in yellow (3.3%), red #2.8%), and fingerling potatoes (3.9%). Total potato volume sales slightly decreased (-1.7%) compared to a year ago.
